I’m giving away my passion project www.getfit.hk for free, are you interested?
A week ago I wrote a quick post on Linkedin about offering my website www.getfit.hk for free, with 10 days to go to the deadline, I want to give a bit more details.
What is GetFit.hk?
Simply put, it’s “Yelp for sports club and fitness studios in Hong Kong”, I wanted to build something that helps small business owners to better market themselves and the public to have easy access to what sports are available to them in busy Hong Kong, I believe the best way to get healthy is to find a sport you actually enjoy, so you continue doing it and can reap the long term reward.
Why I’m giving away the site?
I would like someone to continue building up www.getfit.hk, I’ve not really been pushing it for a few years now, and I still get sport studio reaching out to me to get posted on the site. I still get over 1000 visitors a month (I think at its peak, it was more like 3000 a month). I really don’t want the site to go to waste, I had ideas of improving the SEO on the site, adding videos, reviewing sports studio, doing bundle offers like try three sports studio for the price of X, kinda like a Groupon for sports thing. I had so many ideas for it, but just not the time, plus I’m not in Hong Kong anymore, it doesn’t make sense.
How to get the site?
Ideally, I would like to offer this to someone based in HK, maybe a group of students or recent grads, but anyone can apply, I’m keeping the offer open until 15th November (inclusive), I’m asking everyone to answer 3 simple questions via private message and will make a decision who should have the website shortly thereafter
Q1. Do you have the skills or access to someone with the skills to update WordPress website themes (not just content), links to example website(s) would be great.
Q2. What sports do you enjoy? How long have you been doing it?
Q3. What one idea do you have to improve www.GetFit.hk?
The rules
The plan is to keep the website’s domain registration and hosting with me for the first 12 months until you can meet the following 3 expectations
- Do something with the site within the first 2 months
- Have a positive impact on the site’s traffic after 12 months
- Make money from the site within the first 12 months, 100% yours to keep
If you can do all of the above, then I would happily help make arrangements to transfer the domain and hosting over to you. Within this time, I will be happy to offer advice but rest assure, I will not be questioning or micromanaging in any way, it’s your project.
